This case study showcases Action Foundation’s impactful intervention in aiding a client facing an asylum support application refusal. Through proactive collaboration with Migrant Help and the Home Office, along with compelling evidence of destitution, we successfully secured emergency accommodation for the client on the very same day.
Our client, an asylum seeker, arrived at a port carrying £3000, leading to the rejection of their support application. Unable to provide adequate evidence, they were instructed to approach Migrant Help once their funds depleted. Upon seeking our assistance, the client had already exhausted their savings, compelling us to act swiftly.
1. In-depth Case Analysis: We thoroughly assessed the client’s situation, studying their initial support application and reasons for rejection. This enabled us to devise a strategic approach, addressing their unique challenges.
2. Proactive Interaction: Recognizing the urgency, we initiated communication with the Home Office’s Asylum Support Team. Presenting a comprehensive overview of the client’s circumstances and evidence of destitution, our aim was to expedite emergency accommodation access.
3. Collaborative Endeavour: Partnering with Migrant Help, we combined expertise to comprehensively address the client’s support needs. This partnership ensured a holistic approach to their case.
4. Timely Evidence Submission: To bolster the case, we compiled and submitted relevant evidence of destitution. This encompassed their financial status, depleted resources, and pertinent transaction details.
Thanks to our concerted efforts, we achieved a positive outcome:
1. Immediate Accommodation: Swift engagement and robust evidence facilitated immediate emergency accommodation provision, guaranteeing the client’s safety and comfort during the asylum support application process.
2. Alleviation of Destitution: By securing emergency accommodation, we effectively addressed the client’s destitution, offering stability and basic necessities. Our follow-up ensured their access to further asylum support under Section 95.
This case exemplifies the value of proactive engagement, expert collaboration, and timely evidence submission in supporting asylum seekers facing application challenges. Our swift intervention reversed the initial refusal, secured emergency accommodation, and relieved immediate destitution. This underscores our dedication to aiding vulnerable asylum seekers during their most challenging times, reflecting our commitment to providing effective assistance when information submission seems daunting.
