Case Study: Empowering Change at RSG through EAR Digital Campus

Insights were gleaned regarding RSG's transformative journey with the EAR Digital Campus program.

Organisation Profile

In a dialogue between Tori and Bronte Makepeace from RSG, insights were gleaned regarding RSG’s transformative journey with the EAR Digital Campus program.

Achievements During EAR Digital Campus

Digital Skills Audit: RSG initiated a comprehensive digital skills survey during Module 1, offering valuable insights into the existing digital competencies of their workforce. Although the results affirmed preconceived notions, they provided tangible data to support future initiatives.

User-Centric Problem-Solving: Embracing a user-led approach to addressing challenges catalysed a significant shift in RSG’s problem- solving methodology. This approach  facilitated a more holistic understanding of organisational needs and fostered innovative solutions adaptable across various departments.

Enhanced Buy-In: Module 2 focused on optimising internal data processes, engaging stakeholders from different organisational tiers. This collaborative effort not only unearthed areas for improvement but also garnered increased support for ongoing projects, illustrating the program’s capacity to foster organisational alignment.

Progress on Digital Skills Framework

RSG continues to refine its digital skills framework internally. While staff currently have access, the utilisation rate remains suboptimal. Bronte is actively working on enhancing its relevance and user-friendliness, recognising the necessity of clear implementation guidelines to drive adoption.

Supporting Staff and Volunteers

To facilitate staff and volunteer acclimatisation to new tools, RSG conducts regular drop-in sessions and fosters open conversations. Despite challenges integrating non-Microsoft tools, efforts are underway to justify additional costs through stronger business cases.

Impact of EAR Digital Campus

EAR Digital Campus has fundamentally reshaped RSG’s problem-solving ethos, placing a premium on user-centricity and emphasising the importance of digital literacy. Furthermore, it has unveiled opportunities to apply this approach across various organisational facets, simplifying seemingly mundane tasks and streamlining operations.

Recommendation

Bronte wholeheartedly advocates for the user-led approach and stakeholder involvement fostered by EAR Digital Campus. These strategies have proven indispensable in driving substantive change and cultivating organisational buy-in at RSG, setting a precedent for sustainable growth and innovation.
