Suhaila Abdullah shares insights into their journey of digital transformation in volunteer management.
Suhaila Abdullah, a member of the team at D.A.S.H (Displaced and Asylum Seeker’s Help), shares insights into their journey of digital transformation in volunteer management.
Through the EAR Digital Campus program, D.A.S.H successfully established an online platform tailored for their volunteers. This platform serves as a centralised hub for volunteers to access information about the organisation’s volunteering opportunities at IASK (International Aid for Seekers of Knowledge). Additionally, they implemented Airtable as a volunteer information repository, significantly improving data management processes.
The initiative began with identifying the existing gaps in volunteer management and communication. D.A.S.H conducted thorough research, including problem statements, interviews, and surveys, to pinpoint areas for improvement.
To ensure successful adoption of the new tools and volunteer hub, D.A.S.H plans to launch the website in February and conduct ongoing support sessions throughout the year.
The implementation of the website and Airtable has notably benefited the volunteer manager, streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency. These digital solutions have also elevated D.A.S.H’s professionalism and alignment with contemporary digital practices. Anticipated positive impacts extend to volunteers, promising enhanced engagement and satisfaction.
Suhaila enthusiastically recommends adopting similar digital strategies to other organisations. She underscores how participation in the Digital Skills program not only facilitated learning but also empowered D.A.S.H to leverage digital tools effectively, enhancing overall operations and impact. Through their commitment to digital innovation, D.A.S.H exemplifies how embracing technology can amplify the capabilities of non-profit organisations, ultimately benefiting both staff and volunteers alike.
